Solar eclipse viewing party

The Physics Department at UMass Dartmouth and the Society of Physics Students will host a solar eclipse viewing party, weather permitting, at the Observatory on August 21, 2017, from 2-3:30PM. It is free and open to the public with plenty of space on the Observatory lawn (so feel free to bring your lawn chair or outdoor comforts). The eclipse is partial at 65% maximum in the SouthCoast area, occurring at approximately 2:45PM.

We will provide ISO-certified viewing glasses, and will have posters and physicists on hand to provide information and explain the science on solar eclipses. For more information, visit UMD Physics Facebook page, or contact Department of Physics at 508-999-8354.

Thanks for visiting. Awesome crowd, all sharing and community spirits. Check out our photo galley (https://goo.gl/kD7unM). See you on April 8, 2024 for the next total solar eclipse much closer to home.
