I earned my B.A. in English from Colby College in 1990, and then my M.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire in 1991. I then journeyed out to the Southwest and entered the doctorate program in English at the University of New Mexico. I specialized in post-1945 American and British literature, with an emphasis on women writers, and literary theory, with an emphasis on feminist theory, and I received my Ph.D. in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, I worked at Kent State Stark as an Assistant Professor of English and Coordinator of Women's Studies. I moved to UMass Dartmouth in June 2002, where I joined the department of English and the Women's Studies Program. As an Associate Professor in the English department, I teach women's literature, environmental literature, American literature, and literary theory. In addition as a joint appointment with the WMS program, I teach the WMS introductory course and courses in feminist theory, global perspectives on women, and ecofeminism.
