Kerri Ullucci

Dr.Ullucci is currently an Assistant Professor in the Education department. She came to UMASS from UCLA, where she completed her Ph.D in Urban Education. While in Los Angeles, Dr. Ullucci worked and researched in many capacities, including a study with Cal Tech on girls and children of color in math and science, and a second project looking at the success rate of African American teachers involved in the National Board process. She has also taught and supervised teachers in South Los Angeles and Inglewood.
Before living in LA, Dr. Ullucci taught in Providence, RI. She is a certified elementary teacher. Dr. Ullucci's professional interests focus mainly on issues in urban education: the politics of education, issues of race, class and linguistic diversity, the role of Whiteness in racial identity, multicultural education and teacher induction and retention in urban schools. She is also interested in elementary literacy practices and bilingual education. Dr. Ullucci currently teaches Urban Education, Educational Research and Reading Methods for the department. |
