Michael Baum (B.A. Gettysburg College, 1987; M.A., University of Toronto, 1988; Ph.D., University of Connecticut, 1997) is associate professor and Chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He serves as co-chair of the Iberian Studies Group at Harvard University (2000-present) http://www.ces.fas.harvard.edu/people/affiliates/index.html an executive board member of UMass Dartmouth's Center for Portuguese Studies (1997-present), and an affiliate of UMass Dartmouth's Women's Studies Program (2004-present).
Baum has twice been the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship to Portugal, including a dissertation fellowship (1993) and as Fulbright Scholar (2000). He also received a doctoral research fellowship from the Luso-American Development Foundation (1994) and research grants from the Luso-American Development Foundation (1999, 2000) and the Instituto Camões (1999). Since 2000, Baum has developed and overseen a summer study abroad program in Portugal (now in its 5th year) that focuses on that countrys experience with European integration www.umassd.edu/dce/lisbon . Students have attended from all over the USA and Canada. |
